Children increasingly struggle in today’s society. Obesity is chronic, standardized test scores are plummeting, teenagers are experiencing debt due to reckless spending, drug use is widespread, and TV, computer and video games contribute to the decline of mental health in today’s youth. While there is an abundance of generalized information available to parents and teachers, time restraints and popular misinformation prevent many from coping with and treating these issues in their children’s lives. The result is failing grades, lack of motivation, unhealthy relationships, high stress and an overall decrease in children’s sense of well-being.
Contributing Factors:
Inadequate Counseling in Schools
Misdiagnosis of Learning and Behavior Disorders
Decreases in School Budgets
Teaching Staffs ill-prepared to Deal with Today’s Classroom Challenges
Exorbitant Costs involved in Physical and Social Healthcare services
End Results:
Rise in Juvenile Court Cases
Increase in Adolescent and Teenage Suicide Rates
Increased reporting of Physical and Sexual Abuse
High drop-out rates
Students ill-prepared for College (remedial classes)
Increased rates of Clinical Depression
Rise in Drug Addiction
There is so much information (much of it misinformation) available to families and educational institutions, that knowing fact from fiction is more often than not, a daunting task. With an assembled team of 20 professionals, DeepBlue Educators is able to sift through all of this information and create workshops, seminars, and teacher staff development that provide participants with practical, easy to use tools that can be implemented immediately in the home or classroom for lasting results
What makes DeepBlue Educators unique is the idea of “1-stop-shopping” for parents, schools and community-based organizations. Found within our project is an expert whose private practice allows him/her to provide the latest research pertaining to children’s physical, emotional and psychological well-being. While DeepBlue Educators is available to help any child, family, school or organization that is struggling, as an organization, we are committed to assisting low-income families who have the greatest need and would otherwise not be able to afford the services we provide. We hope to have a deep and lasting impact within San Diego County's communities.
