In 2001, Dr. James R. Rivet founded StudySmart La Jolla, a private educational consulting service aimed at helping families within the La Jolla community whose children were struggling in school and needed help. While successful, by 2003, Dr. Rivet recognized a greater need for this type of service, and out of this recognition, DeepBlue (a for profit organization) was born. An expanded team of 20 doctors, researchers, and practitioners provided teacher staff development and parent education workshops throughout Southern California. Through their work with families and schools, The DeepBlue Team quickly realized that those families and institutions that needed their services the most, were unable to afford the costs. Our sister project, DeepBlue Educators (a nonprofit organization) was founded out of this realization and shortly after its inception, partnerships (like that with the San Diego County Girl Scouts) began to take root.
With the help of others, DeepBlue Educators is now in a position to contribute to those families and organizations here in “ America’s Finest City,” that would greatly benefit from our help.
